In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Lowell, Hanalei Initiative became a central hub for North Shore relief—moving essential supplies, coordinating transportation, assessing needs, and responding wherever help was needed most. As our community moves from emergency response into recovery, our focus is shifting to one of the most urgent needs ahead: helping local families return safely to their homes. Funds raised will directly support North Shore residents whose homes were significantly damaged, allowing us to mobilize contractors, materials, and local workforce quickly to make critical repairs, rebuild where necessary, and strengthen homes to better withstand future disasters.

Repair & Rebuild Local Homes — Assess damaged homes and direct funding to families living in unsafe conditions, prioritizing our most vulnerable residents. Get qualified contractors and materials on site quickly for critical repairs, including partial or complete roof replacements, while rebuilding in ways that better protect homes from future storms.

Keep North Shore Students in School — Fund temporary shuttle service until public school buses are restored. By redeploying our drivers and vans during park closures, we can provide more than 75 student rides each day to reopened schools, allowing families to focus on recovering their homes rather than getting kids to school.

Continue Essential Community Support — Be of service wherever the community needs us most, from helping manage the County’s Hanalei Resource Center to providing transportation, distributing critical supplies, and quickly responding as needs evolve.
